And So It Begins

I have started a blog so many times in the past, only to stop it once I started feeling like there was no one on the planet who could possibly care one iota about my thoughts or activities.  I preferred to simply write in a private journal that hopefully wouldn't be read until I was long gone and dead -- nowhere where I could possibly hear any snickers of disdain for my wacky and unconventional way of seeing the world around me.  Nothing I wrote seemed appropriately moving or adventurous, and so I could not imagine who could care about it.  Well, things have changed recently.  For one, I have been reading like a mad woman for the past year or so (Thank you Kindle!), and I have been recording my thoughts about the books I read on goodreads.com.  At first my entries were pretty lame.  I never knew quite what to say, and I included few details in my reviews.  However, as I've written more and more reviews I have found that I am more comfortable expressing my feelings.  I wouldn't call myself anywhere close to being a master review writer, but I get more people saying that they enjoy my reviews, and that is very satisfying.  I got to thinking that the same could be true with blog writing.  I'm sure I'll get better at this with some practice.  I absolutely love my daughter,  Laney's, blog, and I don't think I can match her for awesomeness, but I can at least attempt to get my thoughts out there for those who care to read about them.  Also, I have this story in my head that I really think I want to write and publish, and I'll need to get a little more comfortable with putting myself out there for the world to judge if I want to take that sort of step.  But, most importantly, our family is getting ready to embark on the adventure of a lifetime.  We are soon going to be heading to China as a family to pick up Minsy, our newest little girl.  It is going to be quite an adventure, and I am sure that there will be many people who will want to hear about that, so this will be a great way to keep friends and family up to date.

So, here I go, on a new adventure.  I hope you will all enjoy it!
