Just Pictures ... Mostly

I meant to post this six weeks ago. It's been a crazy end of the school year, though, and I never got it done. Each time one of the Blau kids turns twelve we take them on a trip with Mom and Dad to Salt Lake City to attend General Conference. It is a great time to get some one on one time with them at a pivotal time in their lives, and it also gives them the chance to get a "big picture"view of the Church. Sometimes it is easy to lose sight of just how many people are out there who believe what we believe, love the Church, and are trying to be good examples in the world. This gives our kids the chance to see for themselves and be in the presence of the General Authorities and Auxilliary leaders of the Church.

Here are some pictures with a few explanations of our adventure with Katie:

It's required to stop at Crown Burgers to get
their delicious Crown Burger. Yum!

Katie is now legit with her official BYU gear.
Don't be jealous, Laney. We are getting a smoothie at your favorite
place ... Jamba Juice at BYU-Provo.

In the shadow of the big giant Y looking over BYU.
Waiting outside FOREVER to get the excellent Mexican food at
the Red Iguana in Salt Lake City. Delicious!
The nice note outside the door explaining why it takes an hour to get a seat.
This guy has a crazy hard job to do. He keeps the people happy as he
tries to find a seat inside as quickly as possible for the crowd
waiting to eat.
Our AMAZING waiter. He loved Katie, and kept bringing her free food.

Love this!
Inside the historic Tabernacle waiting for the Saturday morning
session to begin.

Beautiful girl on the beautiful Temple Square.

We beat the massive crowd to get a good spot at the Blue Lemon for lunch.
Katie wanted to eat there because Laney and her friend, Heath, at their once.
Waiting in line to get autographs from the cast of Studio C.

And there they are. So fun!
In the Conference Center for the Saturday afternoon session.
The institute choir preparing to sing. One of Herman's mission
companions directs this choir.

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir before Sunday morning's session.
Nothing compares to seeing them live.

Temple Square missionaries from all over the world share their testimonies
of Jesus Christ and the restored gospel in their native languages. Love this!
Sunday evening drive. We got lost and ended up finding this gorgeous
view right outside President Hinckley's old neighborhood. Sweet!

In the snowy mountains at Brighton.
We honeymooned here twenty years ago.
It was a lot warmer back then.

Our beehive, Katie, outside Brigham Young's home, the Beehive House.

Katie outside Brigham Young's Lion House.

Loved the trip. Love the Church! And we love our sweet and amazing Katie bell!
